Interests
What I spend my time tinkering with. Tap on each to see my notes.
Self-Learning
Endless 'to-learn' lists keep me curious. With two young kids, I'm also motivated to keep developing tools and frameworks to create an environment where they can learn how to learn. It feels inevitable I'll end up building a product or company in this space.
Startups
I can't help myself - I love the zero to one. I've built one good business so far ($40M+ ARR), had one that was okay, and failed more than five. But this is the best leverage I have to combine most of my skills, get paid, and have lots of fun!
Software Engineering
It feels pretty good that I can pay the bills with something I still enjoy so much. Coding and building stuff. I use it for work, to experiment with new business ideas, and to improve my family's life.
AI
Not a researcher, but I've leveraged ML since 2017 in my work. The recent LLM advances have transformed how I work as an engineer - it feels like having superpowers, accomplishing so much more, faster. I'm having a blast, and now I'm building tools to help other knowledge workers feel the same.
Parenting
I find it incredible that we train so hard for careers and hobbies, but rarely do you see someone working methodically on how to parent. I'm constantly asking other parents what works and what doesn't, reading parenting and education books, and experimenting with different approaches - all to communicate better and be a helpful presence and reference for my kids.

Skilled Migration
I got a skilled visa to move to Australia at 21 - it changed my life and 10x'd my opportunities. I've helped friends navigate the same path. I once ran a company helping thousands of skilled workers worldwide identify where they had the best chances, but making money from it didn't feel right. Perhaps someday I'll contribute to building a non-profit in this space.
Economics
Books like 'Why Nations Fail' hit different when you've migrated from Brazil to Australia and seen firsthand the lost potential from broken incentives. I'm particularly curious about immigration economics - what would happen if we had freer movement of people, like we do with goods?
Self-Reflection & Philosophy
There are many ways to practice it - psychotherapy, journaling, meditation, or just talking deeply with a friend. But without stepping back to distance yourself, you can never have the right judgment to improve in key areas like relationships. I'm not rigid with labels - I steal the best learnings from stoicism, Zen Buddhism, a random Naval tweet, anything I can think critically about and use to grow. I believe these skills should be a much higher priority in public education and health systems. It almost feels illegal that some people go through life without ever seeing a psychotherapist or similar.
Physics
An enthusiast with no formal training. I'm drawn to Carlo Rovelli, David Deutsch, and the timeline of physics breakthroughs. In another life, I'd have pursued theoretical physics from a young age.
Healthspan
Longevity is definitely trendy now, but I was hooked long before by books like 'Why We Sleep' by Matthew Walker and 'Outlive' by Peter Attia. I'm deeply motivated to live in good health until old age - I want to be the grandpa who can still take a surf trip to the Mentawais with the kids.
Surfing
No feeling like duck diving in blue water and coming out to see a beautiful day around you. Or feeling the cold water in the early morning and staying active the rest of the day. Or sitting still when there's no swell in a silence that feels like meditation. And then there's the wave itself - gliding through the water, flowing with it, movements that are subtle and explosive at the same time. I say it's my church - everyone quietly looking in the same direction, in silence and harmony. I'll be forever chasing the "Endless Summer" lifestyle.
Music
My life has a soundtrack - there's always a song playing in the background. Cooking dinner, driving the kids, deep work sessions, morning routines - each scene has its music. As a teenager, I played guitar in a band and wrote my own songs. I often joke that retirement means starting another band, but honestly, I'm not sure it's entirely a joke.
